Funk Masters The Great James Brown Rhythm Section 1960-1973 BK/2 CD

If you like Funk and R&B, or want to get farmiliar with the roots of this type of music, you need to check this book out. It comes with 2 C.D's that go through all of the songs part's for each instrument (excluding horns) in the origional format that they where introduced. The purpose of the book is to get you farmiliar with the background story involving each song, and note's about the player's approaches to the songs as well. You need to check out the drums portion of the C.D's instructional section. It is amazing to hear some of the groves that they where doing 35 to 40 years ago! This book is definately in instructional book as well as a transcription book, which is rarely offered in today's music stores literature sections. The only thing that I thought they could have done better would have been to have three extra C.D's along with it that went through all of the songs COMPLETELY, with the respective instruments excluded. That way you could practice along with it whether you play drums, bass or guitar, or all three. The best thing about this book is the division of the parts on the C.D. This really makes the book comprehensive to the songs parts as a whole. I suggest this book at any level, because it really helps with locking in and creating a groove that can make your body move.
